Monopolar RF machine
Monopolar RF machine is for non-surgical and non-invasive skin tightening, wrinkle removal, ft reduction and photorejuvenation. RF is short for radio frequency which is an FDA approved technology. It is a safe treatment without any downtime. The monopolar type uses a single electrode tip, which delivers energy to the space between the electrode and the grounding plate. The bipolar type passes electrical current between the two electrodes applied to the skin.
Unlike bi-polar RF machines, monopolar RF technology could penetrate deeply into the skin especially the fat cells, single polar RF machine has better results on fat reduction.
How deep we treat with monopolar RF depends on some other factors too, not just on the bipolar vs monopolar arrangement. However, in most setups, monopolar RF allows us the opportunity to go quite deep. Unfortunately this is not the case with bipolar RF, which is restricted to quite superficial treatment, no matter what gimmicks are used to make the current “go deeper”.

How does Monopolar RF machine works?
Monopolar RF is different to bi-polar RF machine, it requires the use of a grounding pad, which is attached to the patient’s body with a temporary adhesive prior to the procedure. The monopolar device is configured to conduct the electrical current from the electrode on the handpiece to the grounding element at a distance.
When talking about monopolar RF, the (+) and (-) poles are placed really far apart from each other. As a result, the current has no other option but to traverse through All skin layers after entering the skin, travel through the body to the other pole, and exit there. A split of a second later the polarity changes and the current is forced to go through all skin layers again on the opposite direction.
As the polarity changes a few hundred thousand to a few million times a second, molecular vibration is produced, which results in heat. The fact that the current is forced to go through all skin layers means that with monopolar RF (and depending on some other factors too) we can treat not only the skin surface (epidermis) but also the middle skin layer (dermis), the deepest skin layer (hypodermis/subdermis) and even the subcutaneous fat deposits below the skin itself.
